How To Join

The Union have gone all technological on us this year, and have removed all this paper and money handling business from days gone by and everything is now done ONLINE. So, I thought I'd put together, particularly for those new to the club this year, a wee step by step guide about how to go about joining the club.

A reminder that you MUST be a member in order to attend any club trips, polo sessions or weekends away with the club in order to be insured. You must also be a member in order to make use of any provision of storage facilities the club may have for your own personal kit (e.g. The Chapel).

Please note that this provision is NOT guaranteed, and membership does NOT give the right to storage of kit, it merely entitles you to it should it be available.

Membership for the year costs £30, which may sound like a lot; but this gives you comprehensive insurance whilst on any official outing with the club, use of any specialist equipment free of charge on official club trips (and ability to hire at cost for any personal trips), attendance at cost to any river trip or weekend away, ability to vote and attend committee meetings/AGMs, ability to run for committee and much much more.

Step By Step Guide

  1. Visit the new LUU website.

  2. At the top of the home page on the left click "Register" and complete the registration process.

  3. Activate your new account by clicking the link on your newly received e-mail.

  4. Login to your account using the "Login" button at the top left of the home page (if necessary).

  5. Go to the Canoe Club pages (under "Clubs and Societies" / "Outdoor").

  6. Read the blurb (it's a good read!) and at the bottom of the page under "Join us" click "Add to basket".

  7. At the top of the page on the right click "My basket".

  8. If you're happy with your basket, click "Proceed to Checkout" and complete the payment process using an accepted credit or debit card.

  9. Print off any appropriate receipt. You'll also receive an e-mail congratulating you on joining the club.

  10. Print off and complete the attached medical details form that appears in this email and return it to myself at any club event.

The form is purely routine but necessary for insurance reasons and will be dealt with in total confidence and not shared with any other parties unless in the event of an emergency. Unfortunately, you are unable to attend river trips or weekends away without completing this form and bringing it along, so please take the time to do it.

YOU'RE DONE!

Concessionary Members

Any members entitled to concessions due to constitutional rights should see me to fill out a paper form.
